I have some small Gotcha is, however. One is that the direction of the twist to zoom in is opposite direction of Canon lenses. It took some time getting used to. Another is that the autofocus is a bit higher. It can be a problem for places where silence is important. f/4.0-5.6 Di LD SLD DG Macro Zoom Lens with Built in Motor Nikon Digital Aspherical IF

Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon Digital SLR
Somehow I live on a stack of money, so the price was very important when buying an all in one lens. The performance was as important as quality and well balanced against price. Each was weighted equally. When Nikon 18-200mm VR cost as much as D5000-camera placed on the issue. Let's face it, is a big part $ 700 for the 18-200mm Nikon. With the Nikon, Tamron and Sigma was the only option, but so many choices in these two manufacturers lines. Live in the real world, I wanted to VC (Vibration Control) or OS (Optical Stabilizer), but knew that a monopod would do well, and I want $ 30 to $ 40 compared with $ 100 to $ 120 Sigma version was very impressive, but at a slightly higher price.
Well, the Tamron won! In particular, Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 AF DI-II LD Lens f / Nikon w / Built-in motor, 6-Yr U.S. Warranty. When I saw the $ 100 rebate offer that was nothing to think, just to order. Most of New York City retailers use free shipping and no tax in their marketing and it works! When I went to a Car Show on Saturday, I decided to have overnight shipping. The lens came to 10 on Friday (thanks UPS!) And was on my camera for 5 minutes. The lens was $ 189 after rebate!
This objective will never leave my camera! Walk around the car show I got many shots from standing in one place. The lens did very well. Soon I was in the habit of having lens focus twice and it was worth the extra thought. Later in the evening when I went through the photos, I could not believe that I took the pictures. Crisp and clear with different angles because of the flexibility of the zoom. The wide end was unusual in taking power shots. Wall to wall power and crystal clear.
The images taken with the 200 at the end of the lens showed no blur VC was not that important. The one-legged Search is based on the criteria for a small collapsed size, at least 62 "extension and easy collapse and expansion.
All these other reviews can go on about this or that, but for ordinary guys like me, it's perfect. After reading all these comments, I was worried, but after seeing the pictures I took, it's easy to take them, lightness of the lens (more than 18-55, I think) and price. I am a happy camper!
